The Rotary District Governor, Elliston "King" Cole appointed a fine gentleman by the name of R. Sam Davis, former Rotarian from Rising Sun and Newcastle Rotary Clubs, the special representative for the organization of a Rotary Club in Fowler, IN, with the Lafayette Rotary Club named the sponsor.  However, due to a change in the district boundaries, that had to change, and the Logansport Rotary Club was then chosen to be our sponsor.  The Fowler Rotary Club was organized on June 30, 1939 at a luncheon meeting held at the Dutchess Cafe in Fowler, with 17 charter members.  The following week three more members were added to the roster.  The new Fowler Rotary Club was issued their charter on July 10, 1939 by Rotary International.  The club held their charter night on July 14, 1939 at the Fowler High School with approximately 200 in attendance.  Thus, the Fowler Rotary Club was born and charged with survival.  By the July 19 meeting four more names were added to the roll, bringing the total to 24 members.
