The Fowler Rotary Club is proud to announce that "Operation Hoosier Honor", a local project, in cooperation with the clubs in Rotary District 6540, to send out packages to our northern Indiana Military Men & Women serving in Afghanistan, has turned out to be a great success.  The initial goal established for our club was to get enough supplies to take care of at least five "Hoosiers" serving in the military.

Rotarians and friends of Fowler Rotary gathered at the Fowler United Methodist Church on Friday morning, October 22, to carry in the boxes of contributions that we had placed earlier at various locations.  Well, we are very pleased to announce that we were able to collect enough supplies to send out a total of 23 individual packages, thanks to the great support of individuals and businesses like you, located in our community and the surrounding area.

The Fowler Amvets Post was a great supporter of this project.  They not only supplied enough note pads, pens and antibacterial soap, but Post Commander Jim Hardebeck even stopped by the church to help pack the boxes to be sent out.  Thanks to Jim and the Amvets for their great support of this special project.

We had had a fantastic letter writing effort by the students at Benton Central High School to thank our Hoosier military personnel for their service to our country.  The students at Prairie Crossing Elementary School collected several items to send out to our troops.  It is great to have young people like this in our community.  Many thanks to all of them.

A special thanks to fellow Rotarian Scott Daily, Club President of the Jackson Hole Rotary Supper Club in Wyoming.  Scott is "Back Home Again in Indiana", that's Fowler, IN, for a few weeks.  A true Rotarian who took the time to help us with a great Rotary project.  We really appreciate it!

Once again, thanks to everyone who participated in any way to support this important effort to remember our Hoosier military personnel.  They should receive their packages in Afghanistan by their day, on Veteran's Day, November 11, 2010.

We look forward to possibly doing this again, with your support, with another mailing in the future.  Our soldiers will appreciate your continued support.
